Wide World, Wide Thought

Day 1

It was on 18th of December 2012. I was so excited but a bit worried bout what will going on over there. Try to cool down myself from here and I'm off to Kota Kinabalu with my beloved roomate. And guess what?! I'm gonna climb Mount Kinabalu. Until the low's peak of the mount!! There's too much people talking bout how hard to get to Gunting Lagadan It was super cold and supply of oxygen was very low. And bla bla bla. I wasn't that worried before till i heard all of this. But screwed all that. I'm going to have so much fun there though. It was all Kak Yana's plan on this. Since her father was an organizer for the event. So i decided to go. With her. And plus everything was under sponsorship. Flight, food, everything. Our flight was on 1340 on the 18th. There were 4 of us from Sarawak. 2 of us and another 2 lady from UNIMAS. It was quite a long journey. As we reached Kota Kinabalu, we were welcome by all the participant which were ALL BOYS!! I was shocked and surprised! And not to forget all the organizer as well. It was Institiut Pengajian Tinggi, Kolej Kominiti. Back to the participants. 38 from us were BOYS and ONLY 4 of us were the lady. I asked Kak Yana why there's many of boys?

Kak Yana : Event tok memang pake laki la ji. Kita jak sesat. HAHAHAHA.

Okay. That was a shocked. Feeling of worried getting stronger since i knew the participant are all boys. At the airport, we were distributed with tshirt, windbreaker, water bottle, and a few other items. Far awak from Sarawak were asked to change our outfit to their provided shirt. Green Gunting Lagadan shirt.

We went to One Borneo for lunch before our journey continued. It was long long way to gooooo. Here, finally I get to eat Tutti Frutti. Thanks to Kak Yana. You're my eating machine!

Journey continued as we all went to Sabah Park HQ for registration. There were 2 routes to get to Laban Rata. Which were from Timpohon Gate and Mesilau. We were going from Mesilau which was the longer route between two of them. We all were divided into group. And till then, farewell Kak Yana since we were not in the same group. After we were settled with registration, journey continued to the resort where we going to start to climb to Laban Rata. It was Mesilau. I'm not sure where was the place though. As we reached, we were asked to eat for dinner and there is briefing for tomorrow morning. It was SUPER COLD till i can feel it through my bone. It was only lower part of the mount. I was worried about the upper part of the mount. It must be double triple super cold.

Day 2

Woke up early morning and from Mesilau Gate we were off to Laban Rata on 0830. It was a very long journey. 8KM to Laban Rata. And it wasn't that easy. Middle of the road, left only with me, Hairi and Yin. This two boy! I owed them a lot. Thank youuu for taking good care of me and for all the way support. I dont think I'll reached to Laban Rata if not because of them. We reached Laban Rata around 1730 and I was AMAZED! You gotta be kidding me. I've seen all of this amazing awesome nature live right in front of me. There's no regret at all till now. As we reached Laban Rata, took some picture and EAT EAT EAT! Kak Yana reached Laban Rata around 1845. It was not easy to get here. It need a strong heart. But as you reached here, i tell you it was a very nice try though. Not everyone get the chance to be here. Right here. Now, You are free at leisure for the rest of the day. Temperature is around 5C; it even rainy and windy.

Day 3

Woke up at 0100 for the next mission. Which is Gunting Lagadan. Peak of mount Kinabalu. Before that, we all had our supper. It was still rainy and windy. Bad news that we maybe not going to went up because of the weather . And i was quite disappointed. After a while waiting, finally. We were asked to prepare. Omg. Kinda nerve cracking. Along the way, Hairi was the one that take care of me. Thanks a lot. It was cold and dark. I was scared. Scared there might be something happened to me. I was motivated by Hairi. Thank God. I was grateful enough cause we get to reached the checkpoint to Gunting Lagadan, Sayat-Sayat Checkpoint. It was few more KM to reach Gunting Lagadan. I was about to gave up. It was super tiring and oxygen supply was very low cause we were on top of the mount and it was SUPER COLD till i cant feel my own hand and feet. But the as i think through, I said to myself, I've started this and I must finished it as well. Finally, on 0645. My greatest experienced and record of history for the rest of my life. 20.12.2012 is when I reached the Low's Peak of Mount Kinabalu. I was very amazed with the view. It was very Beautiful amazing and no word can described the l view indeed. You need to get up there people. After we took some picture, we continued out journey going back. I was so happy excited grateful and OMG. It was unbelievable!! Unfortunately not all of us get to reached the top because of very bad weather. As we reached Laban Rata, we had our meal, and packed. Time to go home.

During the night before we all went back the next day, we had some sort of certificate given ceremony where all of us get a certificate for our great achievement. And when the organizer asked all the successful climber up in front, i was the only and only one girl out of 18 boys. Kinda shocked me though. But I'm proud of myself. It shows that, a female can be at the same level of male. A man can do, i woman can too. What was that? Hahaha.

Last day

Off to airport. Goodbye was never be good.

It was a great amazing experienced!!!
